The main plan extends southwards beyond the top of the Table Mountain to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and east to the suburbs outside the M5 motorway. The plan shows principal traffic routes across the city and names important buildings. Street index on the reverse side includes separate lists and where appropriate contact details of various places of interest and facilities, such as public transport offices, accommodation agencies, car hire, museums, etc.

Also provided is an enlargement at 1:10,000 of the town centre which additionally shows one way streets, a diagram of Cape Town’s bus and metrorail lines, plus a small road map of the city’s environs including the Cape Peninsula.

South Africa, Namibia and Botswana at 1:2,000,000 from Marco Polo Travel Publishing with special features to aid route planning and an extensive index which includes natural features such are rivers or mountain chains, places of interest, etc.

A fold-out extension of the map cover gives at-a-glance overview of the whole area covered by the map with the adjoining regions, highlighting main places of interest and making it much easier to find various localities on the main map and/or plan a route. A set of seven peel-on/peel-off stickers, removable without damaging the map, is provided to make routes or locations more prominent when navigating.

Coverage includes most of Mozambique and Zimbabwe, including Harare and Victoria Falls. Cartography is from the renowned German publishers MairDumont. Topography is shown by relief shading with spot heights, graphics for marshlands and salt pans, and of names of mountain ranges, plateaux, deserts, etc. National parks and other protected areas are clearly marked.

Locations of interest are prominently highlighted, with separate colouring for towns or villages and for natural sites such as national parks and reserves. Symbols mark various other places of interest. Road network includes selected dirt roads and 4WD tracks. Driving distances are given on main highways and many connecting routes. Railways lines, local airports and aerodromes, and main coastal shipping routes are marked, as well as internal administrative boundaries and time zones. The map has latitude and longitude lines at intervals of 1º. Multilingual map legend includes English.

A separate 24-page booklet attached to the map cover contains an extensive index which also lists geographical features such as rivers, mountain, etc, plus national parks and reserves and places of interest. Also included are a separate list of the area’s World Heritage sites, an extensive list of national parks and game reserves, plus a distance table.
