Australia: New South Wales; Victoria & Tasmania
Ordinær pris 169,00 krWe are pleased to announce the completion of our regional maps covering Australia with this map of the south-eastern segment of the country. This is the most densely-populated part of Australia, stretching from Lismore in the northeast to the Tasman Sea in the south. It includes all of New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria State, with South Australia as far west as Adelaide. It also shows Tasmania, Australia’s only island state, in good detail, as well as Flinders Island and King Island.
The map includes two very large inset maps of Melbourne and of Sydney. This map covers the travel plans of 90% of the visitors travelling around Australia, a continental country that is very difficult to see all of in one trip. The expanded scale we’ve used allows adequate room to include wilderness campgrounds, recreational vehicle parks, airports, petrol stations in more remote parts of the states, world heritage sites, national and state parks, and a host of points of interest.

Australia: Queensland
Ordinær pris 199,00 krWe complete our series of regional maps covering Australia with this map of Queensland, which nicely fills a double-sided sheet with only small portions of adjoining states showing. The map also includes a large inset map of central Brisbane. At this scale, the road/rail network of this part of Australia becomes very clear. The first side concentrates on the northern portion of the state, and the other side, the more densely-developed southern half.
The map includes a listing of the state’s top attractions, and notes al major touristic attractions. Although gas/petrol stations are commonly found, we have included some gas symbols in remoter parts of Queensland to encourage drivers to venture into roads less travelled. All states and territories of Australia are now available from ITMB as separate maps, as well as our very popular country map.

Australia: South & Northern Territory
Ordinær pris 169,00 krSouth Australia can be thought of as having two parts; the fertile farming economy surrounding Adelaide in the south and the much more arid northern portion. The road network in the south tends to be well developed, with paved roads going more or less east-west to NSW and WA. Northerly roads tend to be gravel or dirt, such as the Birdville Track, and the north-westerly roads tend to pass through land ceded to aboriginals and require permits.
Northern Territory occupies the second side. It is state-like, if not legally a state, and occupies a huge area. The north-south highway from Darwin through Alice Springs to SA is the main transportation route of the territory, with one highway going to NSW and a partly-paved one to QLD.

Australia: Western
Fra ITM: The State of Western Australia occupies the western third of the continental country of Australia. The main city is Perth, in the southwest portion, and this is the part of the State with the best land and the most people. Much of the interior is arid desert-like grassland with shallow lakes that often dry out. The road network in the south is generally paved highways and secondary roads, with one road and on rail line heading east to SZ and the rest of the country. Roads in the north tend to be dirt, with the exception of the highway going towards Darwin in NT. There are no roads through the Great Sandy Desert, but the Canning Stock Route crosses the eastern fringe, going north-south. One needs an expensive permit to drive this hazardous track. Most of the attractions of the State are to be found fairly close to the coastline. Most of the larger urban areas tend to have been named after British places, such as Albany, Exmouth, and Port Hedland, but many names have been adopted from aboriginal sources, such as Kalgoorlie. This is a state of vast distances and varied terrain. It is, however, the friendliest state and well worth spending more time in than most visitors designate.

Australia: Western
Bradt's Western Australia is the first guidebook focused on the long country roads, inspirational national parks and world-class vineyards of Australia's largest state. Local resident Scott Dareff has visited almost all of the state's 137 administrative areas in the past five years, giving him an extraordinary insight into, and knowledge of, one of the world's great wildernesses. 'Travellers often associate Western Australia with Perth' he says.
'But Perth is just the staging ground for travel to this spectacular state. Much of the magic of Western Australia comes when you venture beyond its capital city. Ningaloo Reef is every bit as astounding as the Great Barrier Reef, but more accessible.
. . you can just walk off the beach into the water, and you're in among its reefs.
The Burrup Peninsula has rock art that is 50,000 years old, while Margaret River is one of the world's finest wine regions and the nearby Karri Forests contain one of the tallest species of tree in the world.'Bradt's Western Australia capitalises on the area's geography to help travellers create the ultimate Road Trips in spectacular remote locations, without having to rough it or give up air conditioning, ensuite accommodation or restaurant meals. What's more, this is the first major guidebook to stray from the coast to provide in-depth coverage of the West Australian interior. For travellers looking for a unique experience, and 'something different', this book makes the Outback accessible and affordable, busting the myth once and for all that a trip to Western Australia requires a four wheel drive, a month off work, and deep pockets.

Australian Wildlife
Ordinær pris 269,00 krA new, thoroughly updated second edition of Bradt's Australian Wildlife, covering habitats, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, the marine environment and where to go. Wildlife writer Stella Martin combines the encyclopaedic knowledge of David Attenborough with the enthusiasm of the late Steve Irwin to offer a unique guide which, compared to others, is variously more portable and more detailed, has a broader scope, goes beyond identification notes and includes an in-depth guide to ecosystems. It also covers all regions of Australia.
Background chapters explain how Australia's wildlife evolved in isolation and how the geology, soil and climate affect its natural history. There is also a close look at Australia's infamously dangerous creatures, avoiding the cliches and putting their threat into perspective: although most of the world's most venomous snakes are found in Australia, they are by no means the deadliest. Essential advice is offered for avoiding hazardous wildlife and there are also useful first aid tips.
Up-to-date information on conservation is included, including fire and its role in the Australian ecology and the effect of exotic feral animals and weeds. And there are tips on how to find, enjoy and identify wildlife with a 'where to go' section featuring a state-by-state overview of key wildlife sites, with maps. With a focus on interesting information about the general biology and behaviour of the animals - with some detail about the most commonly seen species - and explaining how the different ecosystems 'work', this guide is for visitors who want to know more about what they see but don't have room for an entire library of reference books.
