Dominica
Ordinær pris 289,00 krPacked with the detailed local knowledge of author Paul Crask, a long-term resident, Bradt's Dominica remains the only up-to-date standalone guide to this Caribbean island. In this new, thoroughly updated fourth edition, a range of accommodation and dining options are described in depth, guide and tour-operator listings are extensive, and 19 detailed maps help orientation. Taking an environmentally conscious and socially responsible approach to travel, the author couples essential advice on activities and practicalities with rich insights into the country's natural environment, history and culture - including the Kalinago, the last of the region's indigenous Amerindian people, whose descendants continue to live here today.
Formerly considered an undeveloped Caribbean backwater, English-speaking Dominica is an increasingly favoured tourist destination. The government has invested significantly in island infrastructure following damage caused by extreme weather events in 2015 and 2017, and upmarket boutique hotels are opening. Despite such rising popularity, Dominica remains a place of unbridled, off-the-beaten-path adventure and discovery.
This island of mountains, unspoiled rainforests, volcanoes, rivers and waterfalls has much to enchant a variety of travellers. Explore Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a World Heritage Site housing a network of trails that traverse rainforest-covered mountains and connect rivers, waterfalls and the Boiling Lake, a flooded fumarole that is the world's second-largest hot-water lake. Ardent hikers craving further exploration can walk sections of the Wai'tukubuli National Trail or make for national parks such as Cabrits and Morne Diablotin.
Wildlife-watchers can seek out rare parrots found nowhere else on Earth, the mountain chicken (actually one of the world's largest frogs) or even a boa constrictor that is the subject of Kalinago legends. Scuba divers and snorkellers can marvel at pristine marine reserves boasting healthy coral reefs, while those who prefer to remain above the waves can take boat trips to enjoy excellent views of sperm whales. Whether you love nature or culture, hiking through wilderness or exploring underwater, the depth of detail and breadth of local insights that characterise Bradt's Dominica render it the indispensable practical companion to exploring this exciting country.

Dominica & Saint Lucia
Ordinær pris 149,00 krITM har kart over hele verden og de spesialiserer seg på land litt utenfor allfarvei. Beliggenheten til landets nasjonalparker, historiske monumenter, de viktigste veiene o.L. Finner du inkludert i kartene. Samtlige landkart har ofte et bykart over hovedstaden.
Fra ITM: The island is a popular holiday vacation destination and cruise ship stopover port. We have in reality placed two maps on the sheet, by adding St. Lucia, another popular Caribbean destination, to the reverse side. Each country is placed on one side of the paper, with insets of their respective capitals, Roseau and Castries. Dominica, with its rugged volcanic terrain, its dominating mountains, and its lush pristine rainforests, has a natural beauty that is a prime reason to visit and enjoy the island’s attractions.
In addition, both islands are linked to each other and to Martinique and Guadeloupe by new inter-island ferries. This new system of ferries is joining the islands together for sharing tourism, as well as economic cohesion within the Caribbean. It is now possible to base oneself on Dominica and enjoy day trips to Martinique, for example, or St. Lucia.

Guadeloupe & Dominica
Ordinær pris 169,00 krITM har kart over hele verden og de spesialiserer seg på land litt utenfor allfarvei. Beliggenheten til landets nasjonalparker, historiske monumenter, de viktigste veiene o.L. Finner du inkludert i kartene. Samtlige landkart har ofte et bykart over hovedstaden.
Fra ITM: The country of Guadeloupe (1:110.000) actually consists of six islands, with the main island being divided by a narrow peninsula into Basse-Terre and Grand-Terre. It is a French possession, so uses the Euro as its currency. The other touristic island is Marie-Galante, which one reaches by ferry from the capital city of Pointe-a-Pitre. The only airport is north of the capital, and touristic access is through it, or via the regular ferry from Dominica. Obviously, the lingua franca is French, and the towns have exotic-sounding names like Petites-Anses, Grand-Bourg, or Le Moule. Touristic resorts exist, but are scattered, unlike the complexes in Mexico. The road network is more basic, but reasonably comprehensive, and the significance of the country is that of a Caribbean European enclave combining the best of both continents. The other side of the map consists of a detailed map of Dominica (1:50.000), a popular cruise ship stop-over. The capital is Roseau, and an inset map is included. Beach resort enclaves exist south of the city, but what Dominica offers that varies from most other Caribbean islands is a well-developed network of inland resorts to explore the jungle-like mountainous parts of the island.
