Han har skrevet bøker med handling fra omtrent hele verden - europa, asia, afrika, sør-amerika... For boken mosquito coast vant han blant annet james tait black award. Den samme boken ble også filmatisert, med harrison ford I hovedrollen. En fantastisk mann som har levd et fantastisk liv og som skriver om opplevelsene og erfaringene sine på en fantastisk måte.
