The Indigenous People Trail map at 1:75,000 highlighting a trekking circuit in the less visited part of Nepal directly east of Kathmandu. The map is part of the Nepa Maps series which provides extensive coverage of trekking areas of Nepal on detailed contoured maps with trekking routes and hiking trails, huts and camp sites, local places of interest and other tourist information.

The map covers an area directly east of Kathmandu, with Dhulikhel and Khopasi at its western edge and Charikot in the north-eastern corner. Numerous trails are marked, with the main highlighted route crossing the area east of the Sunkashi River. Contours are at 80m intervals, with additional vegetation colouring. Margin ticks show latitude and longitude at intervals of 5'. The map is indexed and includes additional information on various stages of the main trek and other activities in this area.

Titles in this series have cartography is based on the country’s topographic survey, with contours usually at 40m or 50m intervals, enhanced by relief shading, colouring and graphics to show various features of the terrain, including glaciers, forested or cultivated areas, etc. Numerous peaks, with additional spot heights, plus names of glaciers and mountain ranges are prominently shown. The network of rivers, streams and lakes is shown in great detail, with many smaller rivers and lakes named.

Dudh Kosi region at 1:50,000 in a series of detailed topographic maps of selected trekking areas of Nepal originally prepared by E. Schneider and now edited by the German Scientific Association of Comparative High-Mountain Research (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für vergleichende Hochgebirgsforschung). The map covers the lower Dudh Kosi River, the downstream end of the Hinku River, and the Rawa River.

Traditionally referred to as “the Schneider maps”, titles in this series cover Nepal’s most popular trekking regions at 1:50,000 or 1:100,000. The maps were originally prepared by the Austrian climber and cartographer Erwin Schneider and for nearly five decades provided the best and often the only coverage of these areas. Now sponsored by the German Scientific Association of Comparative High-Mountain Research (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für vergleichende Hochgebirgsforschung), the maps are still quoted in most trekking guides to Nepal. Most maps have contours at 40-m intervals and, with bold relief shading and colouring for the glaciers, provide a vivid representation of the terrain. Margin ticks and crosshairs give UTM coordinates plus latitude and longitude. Map legend is in English.

Tamba Kosi - Likhu Khola region at 1:50,000 in a series of detailed topographic maps of selected trekking areas of Nepal originally prepared by E. It may not have the aura of Everest or Annapurna, but the majestic mountain of Manaslu (8163m) has a remote charm that calls on all trekkers to discover the undiscovered. Lush forests, terraced hillsides, mysterious canyons, gargantuan summits and Buddhist culture are enticing. For so long beyond the horizon, the Tsum Valley is astonishing and secretive. Hilltop monasteries, traditional villages, colourful people, enigmatic yaks and hundreds of mani walls, chortens and kani gates add to the compulsive blend.

Authors Bob Gibbons and Sian Pritchard-Jones first visited Nepal in 1974 and 1982 respectively. Bob arrived overland from the UK in an old Land Rover, at a time when Boudhanath stupa was surrounded by fields and Freak Street was host to travellers and hippies. Soon after that trip he worked as an overland driver and trek manager for Exodus. Sian trekked around Annapurna en route home from work in New Zealand, meeting Bob in Kashmir on another trek. Between 1983 and 1998 they led over forty trekking groups each in Nepal, making at least fifteen ascents of the famous Poon Hill. They continue to visit Nepal regularly, writing or editing books about the Himalayan region, trekking and occasionally driving overland.
