Fra ITM: 6th edition November 2018. This is a double-sided map with the El Salvador (1:270.000) on one side, along with a detailed inset map of San Salvador. The maps also shows the country's World Heritage city of Chalchuapa, dating back 3,200 years. The other side of the sheet is a completely separate maps of neighbouring Guatemala, being a detailed map of the central southern portion (1:457.000)of this important country. The highlights shown on this map are Quetzaltenango, Antigue Guatemala, and the Mayan ruins of Quirigua, dating from 200ad. The border crossings with El Salvador are clearly shown and are easily crossed.

China: South & Guangzhou

However, China is also a very large geographical entity and showing the entire country on one map results in a scale that reduces the amount of information that can be shown. The most visited part of the country is the south, with rapid train access from Hong Kong and major airports at Guangzhou and Shanghai. Travel to China is also increasing as more international airports are opened.
The regional map covers one side of this double-sided map; the other contains an updated map of Guangzhou (formerly Canton). Lan and I visited this city in February and were surprised at how open and modern the city is. In comparison with Beijing, the political overtones are much reduced, and Sun Yat Sen is the hero. The city is also a major train hub, with two major stations handling traffic, and six bus stations arranging transportation to nearby cities.
Oman & Yemen
Ordinær pris 179,00 krOman has two enclaves surrounded by UAE; a small one north of Fujairah, and another at the northern tip of the peninsula, Separating the Gulf of Oman from the Persian ( or Arabic) Gulf. Oman has a long history and an interesting culture, and is well worth a visit. The other side of the sheet consists of a detailed map of Yemen which, although it is an interesting part of the world. Inset maps of Sana'a and Taizz are included, as well as of the strategically-located island of Socotra (Suqutra), guarding the entrance to the Red Sea. Altogether, this is a map of a very interesting part of the world.
Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia
Ordinær pris 179,00 krThe former French-dominated region of Indochina evolved into three separate countries in the early 1950s. Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia still retain strong ties and it is easy to travel from one country to another. Each has its particular charm, with a Top Attractions list highlighting the most popular attractions. Side 1 concentrates on the southern portion of the region and includes an inset map of Ho Chi Minh City; the second side covers the area from Sien Riep in Cambodia to the Chinese border areas of both Laos and Vietnam.
An inset map of Hanoi is one this side. The region is prospering after many years of civil unrest, is friendly, safe, and easy to reach since Covid restrictions were removed last year. The new Chinese-built rail line through northern Laos to Chiang Kong in Thailand, and to Vientiane, Laos, is shown for the first time. This line connects with the Chinese rail system leading to Yunnan, but is not shown as the route is still regarded as a military secret by China. At the moment, its purpose is to move freight from China to ports, but it is probable that passenger service is also possible. The map is printed on waterproof stone paper for durability and to hold up in extremely humid conditions.
Canada: Toronto & Southern Ontario
Ordinær pris 199,00 krToronto is the largest city in Canada and the 5th most populous in all of North America. Strategically located on the north shore of Lake Ontario, it is halfway between Chicago and Montreal and within easy access to NYC and points south. Its hinterland consists of 100,000,000 people, so this is a city worthy of note! Historically, it dates from 1793, but its antecedents go back many more centuries. The name means "Meeting Place" in indigenous annals, and it grew rapidly as a centre of commerce and industry over the successive decades to dominate Canada. It is also the capital of the Province of Ontario and the centrepoint for most banks and insurance companies operating in Canada. Touristically, it has the largest airport in the country and is the access point for most flights from the USA and Europe, so tends to be where most visitors arrive.
The map shows the core of a vast urban expanse that contains almost all of the touristic sites in the city, from the lovely recreational outer harbour islands to tony Yorkville and High Park, in the west. All tram lines are shown (Toronto has the largest fixed rail tram network in the world), as well as the extensive subway system (recently expanded), and an inset map showing all of Metro Toronto. Side 2 concentrates on part of southern Ontario, from Detroit to Kingston and north to Barrie. This would assist visitors driving to Niagara Falls, which is still the Number 1 attraction of North America.
Italy: Sicily & Italy South

Although this is a title that ITMB has marketed for several years, it should count as a brand new map in that the artwork is now our own and the map includes a second side focused on southern Italy. The Sicily side concentrates on the infrastructure and touristic sites of the island itself, along with the southern tip of the Italian mainland, showing ferry crossings. Sicily has a rich history, with Greek and well as Roman remains to explore and Mount Etna to visit if it isn't erupting. The Valley of the Temples, south of Agrigento, is particularly worth seeing. The second side concentrates on that portion of Italy from Pescara in the far north to Naples, the Amalfi Coast, to Potenza all the way to Brindisi and Taranto (the 'heel' of the boot). The 'toe' of the boot is on side 1. The focus of this map is on Sicily, but as most access to the island is via the mainland, we think combining the two meets most visitor's needs.
Argentina: Buenos Aires & Northeast

The subway lines are now clearly shown and the main shopping/pedestrian ways more clearly delineated. All three railway stations are shown, although rail services have largely been curtailed except for suburban usage. The cruise ship terminal has been added and the ferry crossing to Uruguay moved. La Recoleta cemetery has had pathways noted. The airport shown is only used for local flights, as the main international airport is quite far away from the city.
It is noted on the second side of the map, which covers all of northeastern Argentina, most of Uruguay, and small portions of Brazil and Paraguay. No visit to Argentina would be complete without including Iguazu Falls or historic Cordoba, which are on this map. The regional map goes as far south as Puerto Madryn and includes such popular destinations as Bahia Blanca and Mar del Plata. Insets of Cordoba and Rosario are included.
USA: Appalachian Trail
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThis is a new venture for ITMB, although we have published several recreational hiking maps over the years. The Appalachian mountain range was the original western boundary of the American colonies while under British rule. Everything west of there was technically the French possession of Louisiana Territory, called by American settlers ‘Indian country’. Nowadays, it is a massive recreational hinterland for east coast residents wanting to escape overcrowded cities. The National Parks Service maintains the trail and a series of overnight huts.
Most people only hike a portion of the trail, but for the dedicated hiker, the trail is a great adventure. We have divided the length of the trail into four natural regions: Maine into New York State, Connecticut south to Maryland, Maryland to Virginia, and Virginia to Georgia, to its traditional end at Springer Mountain. This is a demanding trail hike, but one of the most popular in the world.
USA: Route 66
Ordinær pris 199,00 krRoute 66, the Mother Road of America, is a travel experience unlike any other. Whether starting east from Santa Monica in California or from Chicago and driving west and south, this is a unique travel experience that anyone can do. Historically, Route 66 was the first road to be paved all the way to the west coast, and was used by millions of troops heading for the Pacific War against the Japanese during WW2. It was also used by millions of Americans heading west in the 1930s to the 'promised land' of California and created such wonders as motels, fast food eateries, rest areas, and neon signs, many of which still exist.
We start our map with an inset of Chicago, showing it following Hwy36 (Route 66 no longer exists except as a historic route), then south to St. Louis, then west to Oklahoma City before one has to move to side 2 for the route west past Albuquerque, then through Flagstaff and the Mojave Desert to Los Angeles and the terminus of Route 66 on the beach at Santa Monica. This map can, of course, be equally valuable driving west to east, as I have done, or east to west. Either way, it is an unforgettable travel experience!
Mexico: Mexico Central
Ordinær pris 199,00 krMexico is an exceptionally interesting country to visit. The country itself is larger than most people realize, making sectional maps essential. We started mapping Mexico in the late 1980s and have gradually added regional maps as time and money enabled. Naturally, touristy popular areas like the Yucatan, Baja, and the Pacific Coast really need specialized maps, but so does the central region of the country. This map covers from Mexico City south to Acapulco and east almost as far as the Guatemalan border on side 1, and from Puebla west to Guadalajara on side 2.
Highlights include the colonial mining town of Taxco, the ruins of the Aztec capital of Teotihuacan, the untouched historical city of Oaxaca, and the mountain centre of Tuxtla Gutierrez. This is a map for driving and exploring and coming to understand one of the most important countries in the Americas.
Italy: Dolomites & Northeast Italy

Fra ITM: The mountainous northern portion of Italy is one of todays touristic highlights. This is a new title for ITMB and one that required considerable research to accomplish. It not only shows the roads and rail lines in the region, but hotels, castles/fortresses, museums, and a significant number of footpaths. This is the first new map of this important region, covering from Trento in the south to Sterzing-Vipiteno in the north. It also has a Top Attractions list to assist users. The reverse side is a more general map of northeastern Italy from the Slovenian border west to Brescia and from the Swiss border south to Siena, for the assistance of end users. This side has its own Top Attractions list and an outline of the area covered in better detail that is on the other side of the sheet.
Poland: Krakow & South Poland
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThe Polish city of Krakow is medieval in its city centre, with its walled fortress, the Wawel (a world heritage site) and its old town, which is now largely a pedestrian precinct. The Rynek Glowny, or central square, is the largest in Europe and features the 16th century Cloth Hall and the 14th century cathedral. Nearby is the Wieliczke Salt Mine, another World heritage site, and a wonder to explore. Also nearby is Tyniec Abbey, dating back to the 11th century.
The reverse side covers southern Poland, from Warsaw in the north to the Carpathian Mountains. Poland is one of Europes hidden treasures, with small villages and ancient towns, such as Zamosc (another world heritage site), national parks, chalk tunnels (in Chelm) a martyrs clock (in Lublin), and a bishops palace (in Kielce). Put them all together, and a marvellous travel experience unfolds!
Great Britain: Hadrians Wall & Northern England
Ordinær pris 199,00 krThe Romans eventually subdued the fiercely independent Britons over time, from Julius Caesar's second invasion to the end of Roman rule in 410AD, but they never brought the extremely unruly Scots or the Welsh under their rule. In fact, raids from Scotland (known to the Romans as Caledonia) were so devastating that Emperor Hadrian ordered a wall built to keep them out. This massive wall stretches from the mouth of the River Esk, west of Carlisle, all the way across northern England to a point on the River Tyne somewhat to the east of modern-day Newcastle. The wall, like the Great Wall of China, was only moderately successful in keeping the Scottish Picts at bay and required a small army just to man the many watch towers and encampments. Nevertheless, it remained as a fortified border until the Roman legions abandoned Britain in 410.
Much of the wall was gradually demolished to create housing and fencing on both sides, but the foundations remain, as well as remnants of fortifications along the length of the wall. In today's United Kingdom, the wall is a long-distance hiking trail, a series of museums and memorials, a few temples that have been reconstructed, and some rebuilt portions of a remarkable construction that has survived the ravages of time. It is a 'must see' travel experience for everyone, a life-shaping experience for youngsters, and a massive tribute to the will of the Roman Empire. By the nature of a rectangular sheet of paper, the map shows much more than 'just' the wall, going as far south as Penrith and County Durham, and north into southern Scotland, showing all sorts of attractions that have nothing to do with the wall itself. In short, this is a marvellous travel map for all to enjoy.

Canada: East Coast
Ordinær pris 199,00 krCanada is a vast country in area; inconceivably enormous in European terms. It is best mapped as a series of regional maps and this is the first of two maps that we hope will portray the Atlantic coastline of all of North America. Side 1 concentrates on Newfoundland and Labrador, with a tiny bit of Nunuvut at the top end of the Ungava Peninsula. An inset map of St. John’s, capital of Nfld/Lab is included, as is the French Overseas Territory of St. Pierre et Miquelon. The new paved highway across Labrador is the highlight of this side of the map!
The second side of the map focusses on Nova Scotia/Cape Breton and parts of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, with a detailed inset of central Halifax. The former French fortress of Louisbourg is a must-see for anyone visiting Cape Breton, as are the many Loyalist towns created along the coast of Nova Scotia to house refugees fleeing turmoil in the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. A separate map concentrating on the Atlantic coastline of the USA is being prepared.
Austria: Vienna & Eastern Austria
Ordinær pris 179,00 krITMB is pleased to introduce an exciting new map of the wonderful city of Vienna, combined with a newly-prepared map of eastern Austria. Until WW2, Vienna was one of the most diverse and cultural cities in Europe. The NAZI takeover changed all of that and its brutal capture by the Russians five years later sent the city into a devastating downturn. Fortunately, the Soviet Union was forced to withdraw and Austria declared to be a demilitarized neutral country for the rest of the Cold War. Vienna is now a lovely historic city on the Danube River, the capital of Austria, and the European United Nations centre. The Innerstadt (Inner or old city centre) is the location of many of the hotels gracing Vienna, as well as St, Stephen’s Cathedral with its wonderful roof. One of the great attractions of the city is the Schonbrunn, the 18th Century palace of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The map extends from the western ring road to the UN complex east of the Danube, and from the northern edge of the urban area to south of the Hauptbahnhof (or main railway station). All Metro and tram lines are clearly shown, along with parks, churches, shopping areas, hotels, and the city’s three rail stations. The second side of the sheet is a very detailed map of the eastern half of Austria from the /Czech border on the north, the Hungarian border to the east, to the Slovenian border to the south, and west to Linz and Klagenfurt. Rail lines are prominently noted, as are motorways and all highways. Once one leaves Vienna, a vista of rural mountainous countryside unfolds, with dozens of ancient castles to explore, and interesting small towns to explore. Burg Hochosterwitz is one of Europe’s most ancient castles, dating from 860AD.
Greece: Crete; Mykonos & Santorini
Ordinær pris 169,00 krThe many islands off the coast of Greece can only be mapped properly a few at a time. Side 1 of this map shows the large island of Crete in good detail, with the relatively nearby island of Mykonos and its adjacent island of Rinia and the island of Santorini, with its adjacent islands of Thirasia and Nea Kameni being shown in great detail. A locality map showing the islands in relation to the rest of Greece is included as an inset. It is our intention to map more islands as time passes, but this depends upon future research trips (we lead a hard life!).
Side 2 of the map is a general map of Greece in relation to its neighbours to the north and east. The Mediterranean is divided into smaller seas, such as the Adriatic along the coast of Croatia, the Ionian to the west of Greece, the Myrtoan to its south and the Aegean to its east. All this area is replete with islands and geopolitical conflicts. As such, this map is useful for showing the region as an entity that links the Balkan states to the eastern Mediterranean.
